About the Opportunity

As an Intermediate Engineer, P.Eng. - Electrical you will:

  • Perform complex electrical analysis and design
  • Design electrical protection and control systems (overcurrent, differential, line distance, breaker fail, reclosers, breaker controls, etc.)
  • Complete electrical system modeling and analysis – including arc flash hazard analysis
  • Conduct protective device evaluation/coordination
  • Perform short circuit/equipment evaluation
  • Supervise installation and commissioning activities
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop practical solutions to correct deficiencies in electrical systems
  • Manage, plan and schedule various project aspects

Qualifications:

  • A four-year Electrical Engineering or Electronic Systems Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution 
  • A Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation from a Canadian P.Eng. licensing body will be considered an asset
  • 4+ years of power systems engineering experience with both design and field familiarity 
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software
  • Previous experience with the following would be an asset:
    • Power system modeling software (EasyPower, SKM or ETAP)
    • Automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, Realtime Automation Controllers)
    • Communication systems and protocols (Ethernet Communications, Fiber Optics, Serial Communications, Modbus, DNP 3.0, IEC61850, SEL, IRIG-B)
  • Knowledge of ElecDes software package is considered an asset
  • Understanding of intelligent electronic devices (IED's)
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Travel is necessary and fieldwork will be a requirement of this position
